Write an essay on the following topic:

TASK

• Choose a global company that has undergone a major change of strategy. Examples are Nokia, Google, Apple, Facebook.(please choose Google).
• Discuss the reasons the company decided upon a change of strategy and the scale of the change.
• Discuss the extent of the change on the company’s strategic capabilities and how much they have changed.
• Consider the impact these changes have had on the company’s stakeholders and the extent to which this has changed the organisational culture.

NOTE: 

• Remember to be critical of any theories and models you use for analysis, researching and discussing their strengths and weaknesses as tools of strategic analysis.

• Remember that you are asked to write a discussion, not a description of what has happened. This means reviewing the literature and comparing and contrasting authors’ views.

5    Reference your sources appropriately in the text using the Harvard system of referencing and provide a full alphabetical list of sources at the end.

ESSAY FORMAT

 Should have a logical structure and should consist of an introduction, a main body and a conclusion.

• Does not have subheadings
• Does not allow the use of bulleted or numbered lists.
• Has references to your sources in the text.
• Has a final list of sources, which cross-reference with the references in the text.
• Does not rely solely on the Internet for sources.

MARKing criteria

• The content of your work should show evidence of:
• research
• critical analysis
• understanding of the concepts
• ability to evaluate theories and models and to conclude on their value
• sound, well-rounded arguments
• attention to the brief (you must do what is asked)

• The presentation of your work will be assessed according to the following criteria:
• complies with instructions in the “Rules for the presentation of written work”
• is neat, clean, clear and easily read
• is free of errors of grammar, syntax, spelling and typography
• is appropriately referenced, using the Harvard Referencing System
• uses appropriate academic style
